Charalambides-Christis Ltd

Charalambides-Christis Ltd, was created after the acquisition and merge of the two biggest Dairy Companies in Cyprus, Christis Dairies Ltd and Charalambides Dairies Ltd., by Vivartia Group of Companies, which was completed at the end of 2008. Charalambides-Christis Ltd proves to be one of the biggest suppliers in the section of foodstuff products and the biggest supplier of dairy products in Cyprus with sales of €100,000,000. Today the Dairy Plant of Charalambides-Christis Ltd., is processing 60 millions ltrs of cow's milk and 10 millions ltrs of sheep and goat's milk per year.



University of Patras

The Department of Chemical Engineering, of the University of Patras/School of Engineering (DCEUP), was founded in 1977 and since then, it has been committed to teaching and research of international standards. The Laboratory of Biochemical Engineering and Environmental Technology (LBEET) of DCEUP participates in DAIRIUS.
LBEET is carrying out research on modeling, design, optimization and control of bioprocesses with special emphasis on Environmental Protection, Energy and Materials Recovery from wastes.

The Department of Environment has a dual role in the environmental statute of Cyprus. The first one concerns the coordination with other competent Agencies/Departments. The second one concerns issues of its own responsibility, where it undertakes both the coordinating and the executive role, due to the fact that it enforces a series of legislations on the thematic issues as presented in the diagram. The Department of Environment apart from implementation and enforcement of legislation which is a result of the harmonization with the environment European acquis, is also the focal point for most of the U.N Conventions regarding global and regional environmental issues, amongst which the Barcelona Convention for the Protection of the Mediterranean has a prominent role.
